The Collaborative School Committee serves to enhance student achievement and school climate by engaging the school community in collaborative efforts supporting the goals of University Park Elementary and Denver Public Schools. Its representatives include members of the leadership team, faculty & staff, parents and community. DPS created the CSC committee in 1991 in order to enhance student achievement and foster a collaborative climate among parents, staff, and the University Park neighborhood.
University Park’s CSC provides strategic direction in support of the school’s mission, as stated in the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). The UIP serves as the strategic plan for the school. It includes an analysis of student achievement data, establishment of annual goals to improve student achievement, and implementation strategies to achieve those goals. The CSC also works hand-in-hand with the Strategic Leadership Team.

The CSC’s other responsibilities include reviewing and approving the annual budget, providing guidance with regard to staffing allocations, and representing teachers, parents, and students in addressing academic recommendations or concerns. The CSC at UPark is made up of ten members. Elections are held in the spring and all terms are staggered to provide continuity each year. Meetings are open to the community and minutes are posted on the UPark website.
The CSC acts in accordance with state and federal law, regulations of the Colorado Department of Education, applicable U.S. District Court orders, the district’s affirmative action plan, the DPS/DCTA agreement, and other contracts & district mandates.
