May Moments

May is the time to enjoy the many wonderful activities that signify the end of another successful school year. The Home Tour, Field Day, continuation events in fifth grade, kindergarten and preschool, Shakespeare Festival downtown, school yearbook signing, final field trips—these are all opportunities to treasure the moment. We celebrate the academic, social, emotional and maturational growth students have made this year, on their road to adulthood.

The treadmill that we get on after spring vacation each year approaches warp speed in May as we struggle to maintain the frenetic pace. In addition to school events, spring and summer sports and other activities also demand our time and attention. We know that we need to get on board and enjoy the wild ride.

Our annual event signaling the start of May is the University Park Home Tour this Sunday, May 4th. This extraordinary activity, the single largest fund-raising event for UPark in the school year, requires the participation, involvement and support of every family in the school. It is hoped that we all know how and where we are volunteering. If you haven’t yet signed up, please call or stop by the school to get your volunteer assignment. Child care for volunteers is available at the school. It is such a fun day and helps bring our entire community family closer together. Remember that funds raised directly benefit our students in so many ways from PE to academic support. We will see you all there this Sunday! Your support is so vital, necessary and appreciated!

We can’t turn back the clock. Therefore it is important to live in the moment to best cherish memories of times together. We truly don’t get a second chance so we must remember not to worry about the small stuff and put it in perspective because in the end, it is all small stuff. Let’s concentrate on what really matters which is our interpersonal connections in activities to support our children and other families and friends in our wonderful UPark Community.
