News:

NEW DATE:
DU Basketball Team Reading Event at UPark, Wednesday, February 17th, 5:30-6:30pm.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES AND REPORT CARDS:
It is essential that you maintain close communication with your child’s teacher regarding your child’s academic progress. Many of you communicate frequently with your child’s teacher either in person, by phone or by E-mail. For this reason, a formal parent teacher conference for each student is not required this trimester. However, either you or your child’s teacher is welcome to request a conference and the teacher will schedule one for you. The trimester officially ends on Friday, February 26th. There is a teacher planning day (no school day for students) on Tuesday, February 16th. Many teachers will be using a portion of their planning day to conference with parents. The teacher will contact you if she is requesting you to have a conference with her that day. Also, you may request to have a conference with the teacher either that day, later that week or the next week if you wish. Report cards will be sent home with students in their Thursday folders on March 11th.

CSAP TESTING IN GRADE 3:
Our 3rd grade students will take the Reading CSAP test this week. Please make every effort to have your children here and on time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. If your child has to be out any of these days, please inform the office as soon as you know so we can schedule to make sure all tests are completed. Thanks for your help in this matter!

THANK YOU!
For making our Pajama Day such a success! Because of your generosity, we donated 425 pounds of nonperishable food to the Denver Rescue Mission and $256 to the Denver United Way.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:
Coming soon! We need parent volunteers to help: set up, sign-up for shifts, and pack up. Please call the office or talk to Dawn Stenlund about helping out; 303.756.9407. On Wednesday, February 17th we will have DU Basketball players reading aloud to our students, 5:30pm. Thank you!

E BOOKS FOR SALE:
We still have a lot of E Books for sale, $10 each and with only one visit to King Soopers it pays for itself. Too easy!

TECHNOLOGY AT UPARK:
Has your child mentioned his or her new computer class - sometimes with laptops that come to their classroom? Well, our new technology teacher, Mrs. Warsh is HERE and the kids are really enjoying having regular computer/technology classes. HOW did this happen??????? It happened as a direct result of the extra money we as a community fundraised above and beyond the previous school year. So, please note that your donations and efforts are being put to work. Want to keep all of our programs for next year? WE NEED YOU NOW! Please consider making a donation to Apple in February. It is tax Deductible and we can use any amount you can give us. We are trying to raise $300 per child. Thank you!

TRI STAR BASKETBALL COMPETITION:
FREE to all girls and boys ages 8-13, Saturday, February 20th. Registration begins at 1:00pm and competition begins at 1:30pm at Eisenhower Recreation Center (4300 E. Dartmouth Ave.).
